Description
This vintage volume is "Aquanimitas With Other Addresses to Medical Sudents, Nurses and Practioners of Medicine'' by Sir William Osler, late regius professor of medicine at Oxford and an honorary professor of medicine at Johns Hopkins University, and published in February 1932 as a third edition by P. Blakiston's Son. Affixed to the first free endpaper is a letter dated 1933 from the president of pharmaceutical firm Eli Lilly and Company and signed by Eli Lilly himself. This copy was sent to a newly graduated (but unnamed) doctor with congratulations. The hardcover volume measures 5 1/2 by 8 1/4 inches and contains 451 pages. The boards are green cloth with gilt lettering on the spine. The condition is not perfect. The boards are stained, mottled and somewhat splayed. The volume shows evidence of very old damp-staining, and the pages are age-toned, foxed and wavy. We found a couple of dog-ears, some spots of underlining and writing inside the rear board and on the last free endpaper, but the letter signed by Lilly offsets any condition issues.
