Extremely rare,large size
and very early, all cloth
"Baby Land Rag"
girl doll,
circa 1904
, known as,
#13, "Dorothy",*
with hand painted features and measuring about, 21" tall. Called, (#13
"Dorothy"
or #11 "Babyland Lady") as
shown in original
illustrated,
BABYLAND Rag Dolls, catalogue,
shown on page 65, "Cloth Dolls"-Linda Edward, she wears all her original clothing as pictured there. She has the most beautiful, blue painted eyes with excellent detail and eyebrows to match her original, hand sewn in rows, thick brown curly, human hair, adorable little nose, blushed cheeks and sweetly painted mouth. She is shown with the more easily found, much smaller, Babyland Rag doll (not included) and also available and has a cotton-stuffed, linen body, head and mitten-type hands and wears her
original light blue plaid, cotton lawn prairie-style dress
with wide lace trimmed yoke over petticoat and original pantalets, (no shoes or stockings). She has the early flat painted face and not the later molded and painted style and no damages or fading, no stains (one age split on side of face that does not need any repair) and no repaint, no repairs and no odors as she is from a smoke free home.
