This
finely detailed handmade rug is quite beautiful but very subtle. There is little variation in the colors, so the design comes from the changes in the weaving and knotting patterns. This came from the tribal regions outside Afghanistan,
where home-based rug making is widespread. It's 100% wool made from locally
raised animals, which makes the browns and reds very natural-looking. This rug is a combination of flat woven (kilim) and pile (knotted) rug techniques in a
traditional Sumak pattern. The angle of the light can completely change the color from an ashy brown to a deep rose. This measures 4' 8" x 5' 9" and is new and
in perfect condition. Like most new tribal rugs it doesn't lay flat yet but will with time and use. Shipped USPS, UPS, or free local pickup outside
Washington DC.
