Rare 21” Cloth Philadelphia Baby AKA Sheppard Baby, Original Clothes, Excellent!

If you have always wanted a Philadelphia Baby for your collection, this is a particularly nice one! Not all are pretty, as you know, but this one is very sweet…Made by JB Sheppard & Co. late 1880-1900 of Philadelphia, PA.
21” tall, molded stockinette with painted features, sewn joints at shoulders, hips and knees. I’ve tried to accurately depict condition with photos. There is some paint flaking, and this is typical, but mostly on arms, a little on chest and occasionally on chest. Doll was wearing these woven wooly socks when I got her, and they evidently protected her legs. There are some reinforcement stitches on left arm, and a hole in stockinette on back of right leg. She wears her original union suit, which buttons between her legs. Excellent condition!
I’m 99% sure this is her original dress, as I’ve seen another in a similar dress in past research. I’m still looking for that book! Dress has pleats, cross-stitch needlework, button and loop closure. Fits her to a “T”. Excellent condition with a few spots and discoloration. These dolls were loved and are not easy to find in lovely condition!
I also have black leather shoe button shoes for her. They were something I added. Personally, I love her bare feet and stitched toes!
