    Description

A most unusual oilcloth pair! From the English nursery rhyme that was first published in 1765. The name Jack Sprat was used of people with small stature in the 16th century. One version of the rhyme went "Jack Sprat could eat no fat. His wife could eat no lean. But, together both They licked the platter clean". Both dolls are in all original condition down to their leather shoes. Both faces have original vibrant paint with little to no rubbing. His leather shoes have holes in back and the left shoe tip is missing. Fabric of her apron and right sleeve have melting, yet the dress is in very good condition. She even has the original hoop earrings and her leather, 3 button shoes are in great shape. A real special pair!
