RARE antique jtd. felt cloth, ALMA Italy doll & small B.Altman 1920s felt child

Description

This delightful
pair
of mother and daughter,
jointed felt dolls
by
ALMA Co., Torino, Italy
is
extremely hard to find
and are usually mistakenly referred to as manufactured by
another famous Italian doll maker,
LENCI
of the same Torino, city location,
circa 1920s
through the early 1930s*. See our photos #7 & 8 for this doll reference information. Both dolls are constructed of flesh color felt with excellent seam details and modeling of limbs, etc. They have very thick and nicely sewn in wigs and brown, side glancing eyes, painted lashes and brows, graceful jointed arms and
socket heads
strung with elastic, (which is a specific
ALMA
characteristic) individually stitched
separate fingers
and flat feet. The larger doll measures, 16 1/2" and smaller child measures 8 1/2" tall. Since both dolls wear only original underclothing,
felt shoes & socks
(on larger doll) and replaced dresses they no longer have
(Alma di Cremona)
labels which were often sewn into the clothes. Both dolls are in generally good overall condition except for a brown stain on the larger doll's elbow and a mark on the skirt of the child doll from a price sticker. There are several very small moth nibbles around the larger doll's neck socket. They can both hold a pose although the elastic is somewhat stretched from age. (loc 7) They have no repairs or repaint and no fading or odors as they are from a smoke free home. Other felt dolls in last two photos are
not included
and listed separately.
