VERY RARE FIND FROM 1930S
A 12" SYRIAN BEDOUIN TRIBESMAN
HANDMADE BY BARONNE SANDRA BELLING
HE IS STAMPED "BARONNE BELLING" ON
THE UNDERSIDE OF HIS LONG SHIRT.

Bedouin Tribesman Syrian Doll
He is a stunning doll in very nice pre-owned condition.
These Baronne Dolls where made in Damascus Syria.
These dolls are stamped Belling Baronne on their under clothing.
The Artist Sandra Baronne Belling's dolls are very hard to find
& very sought after.
I purchased this handsome Tribesman from a collector.
It looks like he was in a museum collection
because he has a catalog number.
He is in very nice condition for his age.
He has a little blemish on the right side of his nose.
His clothing has no damage and is beautifully made.
Besides the blemish the only thing I see are a
few exposed wires from his fingers.
Many of these dolls have this same problem.
He does have wires under his cloth body for good posing.
The coloring in her clothing is not faded & there is no odors.
His face is beautifully painted.
He has a expressive painted and needle sculpted stockinette face.
His hair is brown under his
Keffiyeh
.
This Syrian Bedouin Tribesman is a lovely piece of history.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
This beautiful Doll was created by Baronne Sandra Belling circa the 1930’s.
She created dolls until the 1950’s.
Some of these dolls were sold through the Kimport catalog.
Baronne Belling was a Russian noblewoman who
was exiled to Syria after the Russian Revolution.
She began teaching Syrian women to create dolls
representing their culture.
Some of her dolls had the stamps covered by
The Arouani Brothers. They were Syrian importers.

these doll have it all!”
This Syrian Tribesman is a particularly fine example
of a Baronne Belling doll.
These dolls are so hard to find &
highly sought after.
My home is also a smoke free home but some of my dolls
come from the homes of other collectors
and I am not sure of their homes
but I will let you know if I smell smoke.
