The dress has some fairly minor stains & the fine cloth of the bloomers has some tears. The silk dress suffers a tear on the left elbow but the lace is almost entirely intact & the hand sewn fabric of the body & head is almost entirely without tears, although the legs have a few minor stain spots. The face is hand decorated w/paint & the blue-eyed girl looks preoccupied off to her side. Her natural, golden blond hair is braided & gathered in 3 separate pinwheel buns affixed close to the sides & back of her head. The doll's painted eyes are filled w/emotion & exude a distinct personality. Her pouty, full lips are painted red. Her bloomers appear just below her dress & her 19th c period dress is exquisitely fashioned. Incredible.

    DESCRIPTION:
This incredibly well-preserved, hand made, mid-19th century rag doll was found in southern New Hampshire and was most likely kept sandwiched between linens in a wooden trunk in the estate where it was found, since it has survived the test of time so well. The blush rose colored silk dress has some minor darker stains and the fine cloth of the bloomers has some tears. The silk dress suffers a tear on the left elbow but the lace of the dress is almost entirely intact and the hand-sewn fabric of the body and head is almost entirely without tears, although the legs have a few minor stain spots. The face is hand decorated with paint and the blue-eyed, blond-haired girl looks with a preoccupied glance to her side. Her natural, golden blond hair is braided and gathered in three separate pinwheel buns affixed close to the sides and back of her head. The doll's painted eyes are filled with emotion and exude a distinct personality. Her pouty, full lips are painted red. Her bloomers appear just below the bottom of her dress. The doll is very sensitively fashioned and has the kind of individual, caring treatment most doll collectors search for and highly covet. This is not just another antique rag doll but an especially good one and an especially early one, especially in this kind of well-preserved overall antique condition. It's simply remarkable that it is nearly 150-170 years old. From New England with love. Magnificent.
