REDUCED: 18" EROS, Lenci Competitor, Boy Doll, V Good

THIS COULD BE A RARE LARGE EROS DOLL FROM FLORENCE, ITALY
I have had this charming young man for a long time and I have never really researched him. I have a binder with just about every article written about the lovely felt dolls made in the 1920....
many of them imitating Lenci dolls. At first I thought he was Alma because he is strung with elastic. But then I found the article about Eros and discovered that later they were known for their so-so souvenir dolls but when they started they made larger high quality felt dolls. A couple of the characteristics mentioned is the elastic stringing and the double seam up the neck and the single piece of felt that the head was made of. He also has large almond colored eyes and a sweet expression. Another characteristic they didn't mention but I think is significant is that he has all five fingers separate. Very neat. He is wearing a white felt suit with an ascot and cumberbund, felt shoes with strap. The outfit also has 4 hole buttons like the article picture and the socks look the same. The article said there could be a tag on the underwear but I can't see anything without taking him all apart. He has blue eyes and a mop of blonde mohair. I'm not sure if the striped socks and burgundy pieces are original - I have the faintest of memory of adding those for more color. The glasses are an addition - when he got older, like all of us elders he needed them and they can stay or go. Look at the last picture and compare them. See what you think and if you have a different idea, let me know. Unfortunately, I don't have any records on him or know where I bought him. I was less serious when I started collecting. He is adorable and mint and could be a real find. Supposedly, the large Eros dolls are very rare to find and desirable. I will add any information.
