Description
This lithograph is #26 in a series of 40 on the History of Pharmacy by Robert Thom and sponsored by Parke, Davis & Company. Text and illustration copyrighted 1955. It is in good condition for its age (see pics) and has been framed and displayed. The border and back of the print have darkened somewhat with age and light and the colors may have faded some. Also included is the original copy of the background history of the litho (pic 4, about 10 5/8 x 8.5 inches) that was attached to the covered back of the framed print. This history is still glued to the frame backing paper. In this scene the Shakers are chopping and compressing one ounce bricks of a dried herb. This is followed by the wrapping and labeling of the bricks and packaging in one pound units. The lithograph is approximately 21 1/8 x 17 3/8 inches (pic 12) and may have been slightly trimmed for a frame. The picture area is about 15 7/8 x 11 7/8 inches. This litho has some corner and edge damage (see pics). The print will be shipped USPS rolled in a protective clear plastic bag in a triangular tube. Buyer may choose first class or priority mail. Buy more than one of my Robert Thom lithos at the same time (within 30 minutes) and save on shipping. Just pay shipping for the first litho and choose free local pickup for additional prints.
