    Description

    Vintage Hand made African American Cloth Doll
    Made of hard packed black cotton stockings. Heavy.
    Wearing all original clothing. I believe the stains on apron were there at purchase.
    The arms are thinner and shorter than sleeves of dress. However, the body and legs are very firm.
    Wearing heavy starched clothing : dress with long apron. The lower left hem has " SAV. GA." embroidered in red thread.
    Wearing slip and pantaloons with tucks. All garments with tiny stitching, not made by modern sewing machines.
    Label "24" on foot.
    I purchased this doll at auction around 20 years ago.
    She was represented as part of the Katheryn Hill Collection which had an article in one of the leading doll magazines highlighting her collection of cloth dolls.
