Description

WESTFIELD INSURANCE
The Ohio Legislature chartered the Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Company of Medina County in 1848. Their first home was a room over the general store in LeRoy, Ohio (AKA Westfield). The name was changed to Ohio Farmers Insurance Company in 1851. In 1971 the Westfield Companies name was adopted making items with the Ohio Farmers name very rare. The Westfield Companies are still doing business today.
The plate/plaque is made of solid brass with a stamped surface of a Old time farmer with a sickle sitting on a fence. It measures 8.75" in diameter. This plaque was made exclusively for Westfield by Wendell August and was a retirement gift. It is a limited edition and is No. 356. The plate is in very good condition with expected signs of usage. Not an item that is regularly seen for sale.
